Unlock the Power of Life Force Energy, The Key to Vitality and Well-being

Life force, often called “vital energy,” is the key to vitality and well-being.  It is the energy or force that gives life to living beings. The energy makes living things alive and helps them grow, move, and function.

It’s literally the electrical energy or voltage of your body.

Think of it as the energy in the battery that powers a car in conjunction with the fuel it needs to run. It’s not the fuel, but it is the power.

Living beings need a life force to function and stay alive. This energy flows through our bodies and is responsible for our spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical well-being.

It needs to be recharged, recovered, and restored (Regenerated) so that you can feel rejuvenated.

Benefits of reiki

One of the major benefits of reiki is that it may support pain relief and improvements to psychological well-being without the potential side effects of more invasive or pharmaceutical-based treatments. In addition to anecdotal reports of reiki benefits, there is evidence to suggest Reiki may improve heart rate variability in people who have suffered from acute coronary problems such as heart attack.

Research suggests reiki may provide significant relief from various symptoms associated with cancer, ranging from pain and distress to anxiety and sleep problems. There is also evidence to suggest reiki may help alleviate fatigue and improve quality of life in people suffering from cancer. Reiki has been studied as possibly improving mood in people experiencing high levels of depression and anxiety, and although initial results are promising, more research is recommended.

Reiki is reported to possibly reduce pain and decrease the use of painkillers by women who have given birth by caesarean section. The results of one study suggest that reiki may reduce work-related stress and burnout experienced by people working in the mental-health sector. There is also evidence to suggest that reiki may be more effective than placebo in stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system and supporting the body’s natural healing abilities.

Reiki also aids in calming the person and encouraging a more peaceful state of mind. This, in turn, can help boost their thinking, memory, and learning capabilities. When the person is brought to a more relaxed state, their entire being body and mind is able to function fully, bringing everything to full circle.

It is not an invasive or harmful treatment and can be used on patients of all ages.

Reiki may assist in relieving symptoms related to: Anxiety Cancer Chronic, fatigue syndrome, Colds and flu, Confidence and self-esteem, Depression, Detoxing and cleansing Energy and vitality Fatigue, burnout and exhaustion, Headaches and migraines, Heart conditions and heart attack, Insomnia and sleep disorders, Loneliness Memory and cognitive function, Multiple sclerosis (MS), Pain relief Relaxation Scars, burns and wound healing, Sexual dysfunction and impotence Skin, hair and nail issues, Sore throat and coughs, Stress and tension

What to expect at a reiki session

Although reiki is considered to be a type of energy healing, it is not normally associated with religious or spiritual practices. Some reiki healers do include spiritual elements as part of the treatment they offer, so please ask your practitioner about this if the issue of spirituality is a concern for you.

During your reiki therapy, you will usually lie down on a padded treatment table, or you may remain seated if that is more comfortable for you, and you will not need to remove any clothing. Your practitioner may provide a guided relaxation or meditation exercise before commencing the treatment itself.

The reiki practitioner will hold their hands at specific locations on or slightly above your body, depending on what you’re more comfortable with. You may feel warmth or a tingling sensation in response to where their hands are, but people often experience the treatment in different ways. You might feel deeply relaxed or possibly even fall asleep. A treatment session often lasts for about 45-60 minutes, but the intuitive nature of the modality means it will be customized by the practitioner to suit your specific needs.

Although reiki is not associated with any adverse effects, it is not intended as a replacement for traditional Western medicine, and you should never discontinue any prescribed medical treatment while undergoing reiki treatment.

As with any exercise or wellness program, please consult your medical professional before commencing reiki. If you have an injury or other health issue, or any concerns at all, also speak to your reiki practitioner, who will be happy to address these and explore the option of tailoring the session to your individual requirements.

Normal reactions to Reiki session may include:

  • Increased energy
  • Enhanced sleep
  • Relief from pain
  • More mobile joints
  • Headache
  • Tiredness
  • Skin rashes, pimples, or spots (due to elimination of toxins)
  • Kidney stones passed with ease
  • Frequent bowel movements, diarrhoea (cleansing, elimination of toxins)
  • Increased mucus (nasal discharge)
  • Emotional or psychological release (crying)

Reiki, a holistic healing practice, traces its origins to Japan in the early 20th century. The term “Reiki” combines two Japanese words: “rei,” meaning universal or spiritual, and “ki,” representing life force energy. The founder of Reiki, Mikao Usui, is credited with the system’s development. In the early 1920s, after a profound spiritual experience on Mount Kurama, Usui formulated the principles and techniques of Reiki as a means to promote healing and balance in body, mind, and spirit. Usui began teaching Reiki and initiated a lineage of practitioners. The practice gradually spread beyond Japan, reaching the Western world in the latter half of the 20th century. As Reiki gained popularity, various schools and traditions emerged, each contributing to the evolving understanding and application of this energy healing method. Today, Reiki is practiced globally, with diverse interpretations and approaches, but its foundation remains rooted in Mikao Usui’s original teachings and the belief in the universal life force energy as a conduit for healing and well-being.

Reiki Level 1

In the first level, you will lay the foundation of your Reiki practice. You’ll learn the history and principles of Reiki, the hand positions for self-healing and healing others, and how to feel and work with energy. This level focuses on balancing and aligning your chakras and promoting relaxation and well-being. By the end of this level, you will be able to perform Reiki sessions on yourself and loved ones, fostering harmony in mind, body, and spirit.

Reiki Level 2

The second level takes you deeper into the world of Reiki. You will be introduced to the sacred Reiki symbols and mantras, enabling you to send Reiki across time and space. You will explore emotional and mental healing, as well as distant healing techniques. This level empowers you to work as a professional Reiki practitioner and expand your healing abilities to a more profound level. It’s a transformative stage on your journey to becoming a Reiki Master.

Reiki Master Level

You will have a profound mastery of Reiki, enabling you to enhance your life and the lives of others through the healing power of universal energy. Whether you’re seeking personal transformation, professional growth, or simply a deeper connection to the world around you, this course will empower you to harness the limitless potential of Reiki. Reiki, a form of alternative therapy originating in Japan, is believed by practitioners to channel universal energy to promote holistic healing. While scientific evidence validating the specific mechanisms of Reiki is limited, individuals often report subjective benefits from sessions. Many find that Reiki induces a state of deep relaxation, leading to stress reduction and an overall sense of well-being. Some individuals report pain relief, improved sleep quality, and emotional balance after sessions. Although not a substitute for medical care, Reiki is sometimes used as a complementary therapy alongside conventional treatments to support healing and recovery. Additionally, recipients describe increased energy levels and a sense of vitality. Reiki is considered by some as a spiritual practice fostering personal and spiritual growth through a connection to a higher power or universal energy.

A Reiki Master course is an advanced training program that delves deeply into the principles and practices of Reiki, a Japanese healing technique centered around the channeling of universal life force energy. This course typically follows the foundational levels of Reiki training, progressing from Level 1 to Level 2 before reaching the Master level. In a Reiki Master course, practitioners often study and become attuned to the sacred symbols associated with Reiki, which are believed to enhance the healing energy. The course also emphasizes advanced techniques for energy channeling, including distance healing and the use of symbols for specific purposes. Participants explore the spiritual aspects of Reiki, delving into the philosophy and principles that underpin this holistic healing modality. A significant component of the Reiki Master course is the attunement process, a sacred initiation that deepens the connection between the practitioner and the Reiki energy, and enables them to attune others. Additionally, students are encouraged to engage in regular self-practice, meditation, and reflection to enhance their energetic sensitivity and maintain a balanced state. The Reiki Master course often includes teachings on how to pass on the knowledge and attune others, effectively preparing individuals to take on the role of a Reiki Master teacher. It is a comprehensive and transformative journey that goes beyond technique, encompassing spiritual growth, self-mastery, and a commitment to sharing the healing power of Reiki with others.

What is reiki and how does it work?

Reiki is a non-invasive modality that supports both physical and emotional healing. Through hands-on or distant healing, a practitioner will act as a conduit for the healing energy to flow through their hands to encourage and stimulate a person’s innate powers of self-healing. Through the receiving of reiki, you are assisted to re-establish your own internal control over your energy balance.

It’s believed that reiki energy flows through the practitioner into the client and promotes self-healing. Based on this understanding, reiki healers transfer healing and relaxation energy into your body. Energy healers believe that when it comes to working with energy, time and space do not exist, so you can receive reiki healing both in person and remotely.

The energy delivered into your body improves energy flow and helps to clear blockages. This allows the body to restore balance and heal itself physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

When should you not use Reiki?

Never send Reiki while a person is in surgery. The Reiki energy can interfere with the anesthesia in the body and could cause the patient to wake up too soon. As soon as the surgery is complete you can begin sending Reiki. Never practice Reiki when either you or your client are intoxicated.

Can Reiki open chakras?

Reiki is an ancient Japanese healing technique that aims to open and balance the charkas. This therapy allows energy to flow freely and creates harmony in one’s body. It promotes spiritual healing and self-improvement.

Who should not receive Reiki?

You can always choose whether or not to receive Reiki. Reiki has no contraindications; it is regarded as a completely safe and gentle practice.

How often should Reiki be done?

It’s best to receive three to five Reiki treatments one to two weeks apart. Once you see yourself improving you can space out treatments to one month or six weeks apart. Receiving regular Reiki treatments is excellent self-care and helps you to maintain holistic balance.

How do you tell if your chakras are blocked?

If all of your chakras are blocked, you may experience physical, mental, and emotional symptoms such as fatigue, depression, anxiety, lack of focus, difficulty sleeping, and physical pain. You may also feel disconnected from your spiritual self and have difficulty connecting with your intuition.

Which chakra should you open first?

For centuries, many spiritual traditions have held that the root chakra is the grounding foundation of the chakra system. If your root chakra is out of balance, it’s believed that the other chakras in your body will be too. If you’re new to chakra work, the root chakra is a great place to start.

Can I “catch” people's “bad” energy during a Reiki treatment?

Consequently, you gain, or regain, physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual balance. This may take one treatment or a series of treatments. Reiki practitioners don’t absorb your energy. Nor do you absorb their energy, any more so than if you were exchanging long periods of touch with another human.

How do I activate Reiki?

Close your eyes and take a few rounds of deep breaths. Imagine the crown of your head opening and a stream of healing white light flowing from the top of your head, into your heart, and out through your arms and hands. Ask to be filled up where you need healing most. This way, if you’re going to offer Reiki to a loved one, you won’t be giving to them from an empty cup.

As you feel the flow of energy, continue to breathe, and if you find your mind gets busy or starts to question whether this is working, come back to your breath. Envision yourself as a vessel for healing. Then set an intention or prayer to receive healing of the highest good.

How do I prepare myself for Reiki?

You’ll want to be sure you’ve eaten and hydrated a few hours before the session—mostly so you will be comfortable and not distracted by hunger or thirst. Avoid eating a heavy meal beforehand, however, as you don’t want all of your body’s energy to be directed toward digesting while you’re receiving your treatment.

How will I feel during and after Reiki sessions?

Reiki involves the transfer of energy around the body by a practitioner via light touches on various parts of the body. This stimulates the body’s natural healing systems. Some people might experience some mild sensations during their sessions; however, the overall experience is very gentle and calming. This is why Reiki is an ideal supplemental treatment for psychological ailments as well as physical injuries or illnesses. After your Reiki sessions, you should feel deeply relaxed and de-stressed, as your healing systems have been activated.

How long do the benefits of Reiki last?

The length of time that the benefits of Reiki last vary case-to-case, depending on the ailment you wish to treat and your own body’s response to the treatment. In general, we recommend regular sessions at the beginning of your healing journey, and less frequent sessions as you start to notice the benefits. After you start feeling an improvement, your last session’s effects can last from days to weeks. A general rule of thumb is that if you are consistent with your sessions, you will reap the rewards for longer.

Why do I feel tired or emotional after learning or receiving Reiki?

Reiki balances your energy. So if you experience a sudden burst of energy it’s because your energy was stagnating. So, this is an ideal time to begin creative pursuits or start ticking things off your to-do list.

You may also become more aware of your emotions due to the challenges you’ve experienced in the past or you’re experiencing at present.  Reiki rebalances you on all levels, so these mental and emotional states come to your awareness to be managed and then gently released.

The emotions or physical sensations that come to the surface during and after learning and receiving Reiki are actually experiences to be grateful for. Once you’re aware of them and receive extra support to manage them, you generally experience improved health, mental clarity, peace, and joy.

Are There Any Safety Concerns for Using Reiki?

Reiki has not been found to have any adverse effects.

Because there is nothing about a Reiki session that can interfere with conventional medical care, Reiki has no known contraindications and can be used concurrently with any medical intervention.

The touch of Reiki is very light on or even off the body. The recipient is not required to ingest any substances, so there are no concerns about mixing substances (such as herbs) and prescription medications.

Reiki will not override the action of medical interventions, but rather support the patient while he or she goes through them, restoring balance in body, mind, and spirit to the degree possible. Patients who feel well even when fighting chronic illness are more likely to complete their medical treatment and be active partners in their health care.

Because the activation of Reiki pulsations in the practitioner’s hands adjusts to the changing need of the recipient, and stops when appropriate, you can’t get too much Reiki, no matter how long the practitioner’s hands are in place.

All that said, remember that it is up to you to be responsible for your own medical care and seek appropriate help. Do not go to your Reiki practitioner for a diagnosis (unless he or she is also your healthcare provider) and do not avoid recommended medical tests or treatment. In an emergency, call 911. If you are Reiki-trained, you can safely offer Reiki by placing your hand anywhere on the victim (even if you’re the victim) while awaiting the medics or en route to the hospital.
