What is animal Reiki? It’s essentially meditating with your animals. But in a broader sense, Reiki is a spiritual system cultivating compassionate intention, which in turn may bring about healing transformation. The practice of Reiki helps us navigate life’s challenges with grace and surrender while we to learn to listen to and be present for others in a compassionate space. Offering one’s self as a conduit through which energy can flow for the good of another is the single most powerful gift that one can give and receive.
Reiki is universally guided life energy, and as such, can benefit everyone and everything within the Universe. This of course includes all animals – our beloved pets, animals in the wild, insects, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and so on. There are no exceptions to what or who can benefit from Reiki.
This outside the box approach to Animal Reiki creates incredibly strong energetic trust bonds between humans and the animals we are trying to help. It allows them animals to relax in our presence (or within the presence of our energy, even when we are distant) and let down their guard and wariness. And, when an animal is able to fully relax in the space of healing energy, their body and mind are able to facilitate the healing process.
During a Reiki session, animals often experience a deep state of peace as the Reiki clears imbalances, allowing for new and harmonious patterns of health and wellness to emerge. Physical contact is not a requirement for Reiki and traditionally the practitioner offers Reiki to the animal hands off. This way, the animal controls the treatment, either accepting Reiki from a distance or settling themselves against the practitioners hands. Many people have unique experiences in connecting with and learning from the animals themselves.
The gentle loving energy of Reiki is a wonderful gift for the animals we care for, and those we care about. Animal Reiki is very similar to Reiki for humans; the practitioner channels the healing energy through his or her hands to the animal client, and the Reiki energy is drawn by the animal’s needs, flowing to where it is most needed. And, because Reiki can never cause harm, it always works for the animal’s highest good, making it a wonderful complement to medical or behavioral treatment.
An animal that is ill, traumatized, frightened, or compromised in some way is often skittish and fearful. In my experience, distant Reiki helps to soothe, calm, and relax the animal, without the added stress of an approaching stranger (the practitioner). In a distant Reiki session, the practitioner channels the healing energy, and directs it to the animal through focused intent. Meanwhile, the animal remains in familiar surroundings, allowing a more receptive state. This in turn enhances the healing process.
A Distant Animal Reiki session includes:
- describe the nature of the healing request
- Complete Reiki session for the animal, conducted in the healing space
- The use of intuitively chosen crystals to enhance the healing process
- A report sent via email to the requesting client – describing information intuitively received during the treatment,
- Follow up questions via email.
